ABOUT US

We are a local community organization (501c3) from Downey, California; since 1995, dedicated to preserving Southern California's aerospace history and the establishement of an aerospace learning center in Downey.

The Aerospace Legacy Foundation (ALF) controls a large collection of artifacts, photos and assetts from the former Downey NASA Industrial Site and donated collections. ALF was onsite for 10 years after the closing of the former Boeing plant which became Downey Studios and now the Promenade at Downey.

We offer a local Speaker's Bureau and have resources for educators. We have thousands of images and archival material related to early aviation and aerospace programs from the Southern Califonia area. We are affiliated with the North American Bald Eagles, the Downey Historical Society, the Columbia Memorial Space Center in Downey, as well as Financial Partners Credit Union. We are also an active member of the Downey Coordinating Council, working with other non-profits, including the production of the play "Defying Gravity" in Downey, CA. We have many former aerospace workers as members , and we have long been a local authority on Southern California aerospace and the Downey NASA Insustrial Site. We are the sponsors of "Pioneers in Aviation, The Race to the Moon", a PBS production and future E-Book. We sponsor and participate in events related to aviation and aerospace and frequently speak on panels for such events.
